They take a different, less used, route to avoid being pulled over, which certainly implies that both Hildy and Belinda were also over the limit. They went to a party held by Frank’s older brother’s college friends, and Frank gets totally wasted to the point where Hildy insists she drive them all home. We meet Belinda (the protagonist), Hildy (her best friend) and Frank (I don’t know a bad enough word for him, I’m actually stumped). Cusick’s characters are still complete asshats, who I really want to die, but that’s par for the course. So, we start with a prologue and, given the completely mystifying description in Teacher’s Pet, I was pleasantly surprised by the fact it was clear and to the point.
